Research interests
My area of specialization is entomology. I am interested in the taxonomy, morphology, phylogeny and biogeography of the planthoppers (Insecta: Hemiptera: Fulgoroidea), mainly focused on the Tropiduchidae-group. To achieve the aims, I am using the traditional entomological studies and techniques, but also the development and optimization of the innovative morphological techniques by using modern histological techniques (SEM, TEM and Micro-CT) is addressed in my research. Emphasis is on a thorough investigation and documentation of morphological characters of different life-stages. The aim is to obtain phylogenetic results by analysis of the comprehensive morphological data sets and by combined analyses of morphological characters and molecular data.
Now, I am conducting the following research works: (1) Taxonomic revision of Tropiduchidae; (2) Phylogeny of planthoppers based on comparative morphologic and molecular data; (3) copulatory mechanisms of Fulgoroidea (Insecta: Hemiptera); (4) Cladistic biogeography of Tropiduchidae-group. I served as an Assistant Professor in IZCAS since 2008; during this service I have published 40 academic papers.
