Innovatively proposed a new idea of pest control together with Zhang Guangxue academician “Mutualistic Plant Protection”, which means plant should be and can be used as biology control factors, and developed and enriched the theory of plant protection. Directed and created ecological management model that utilizing the cotton field edge alfalfa as natural enemy reproduction bank to control cotton aphid, which significantly reduced pesticide pollution. I researched integrated control technology of invasion pest Colorado Potato Beetle to provide technical support of protecting the national potato production safety. Independently and cooperatively published 121 new species such as Hylobitelus xiaoi Zhang. Won two second prizes of National Science and Technology progress Award (both rank the the first ), and four prizes of provincial departmental science and technology achievement award. Published more than 200 academic papers (37 indexed by SCI ), and 11 monographs and translations. 3 patents for invention and for utility model.
